Bunnies of the Week- Heidi & Carolina!

Heidi and Carolina are the bunnies of the week!

Beautiful, sweet girls!

Beautiful, sweet girls!

Heidi is Ginny’s daughter and Carolina is Mary’s daughter. Ginny and Mary were rescued in North Carolina and brought to EARS to have their babies, who were born in April of 2014. Although Heidi and Carolina are not technically sisters, they grew up next to each other at the shelter and are now a bonded pair. They are friendly young girls who love to play and binky, and also enjoy cuddling with each other.

Heidi looks just like a wild bunny.

Heidi is a sweet bunny. She is more calm than Carolina, but she still enjoys time out of her crate. She loves to play in tunnels, and does great binkies when she gets really excited! She is quite outgoing, especially when food is being distributed.

Carolina is always ready to play!

Carolina is always ready to play!

Carolina is full of energy and spunk! She would do best in a home that can give her a lot of room to run and exercise. She likes to zip around and do top-speed binkies, and she is so much fun to watch! She is also friendly, and loves head scratches and cuddles.

Heidi and Carolina are still very young- not even a year old! They have been at the shelter their entire lives. They are great bunnies and will make great pets- they are extremely friendly and interactive. It’s honestly difficult to believe they haven’t been adopted yet! Come to the shelter and visit Heidi and Carolina- once you see them zoom around and binky, you will definitely want to take them home!

Bunnies of the Week- Nugget & Raven!

Nugget and Raven are the bunnies of the week!

Nugget and Raven are cute and cuddly lops.

Nugget and Raven love to cuddle with each other.

Nugget and Raven came to us as babies in September of 2013. They were initially fostered in Linda’s classroom, where they got a lot of attention from the kids in her class. After they were spayed and neutered, they were brought to the shelter, and have been there ever since.

"We get treats for posing nicely, right?"

“We get treats for posing nicely, right?”

Nugget and Raven are entertaining and energetic lops. They are not entirely comfortable with being picked up and held (like most rabbits), but they love head scratches. They love to run around and play, and they need lots of space to stretch their legs. Nugget and Raven love their pellets and like to sit opposite the food bowl and pull it back and forth in a game of tug of war.

Nugget is ready for his ice skating lessons!

Nugget is a happy, bouncy bunny. He is always first to greet you when you bring food, and the last to get tired when playing out of his crate. He is very friendly, regardless of the constant look of disapproval on his face. Nugget also knows how to relax- he loves to drop into a full bunny flop on his side and stretch out his legs.

Raven wants to be a hockey player when she grows up!

Raven is more shy than Nugget, but she still loves to run around- she especially enjoys hopping through tunnels and tubes. She also becomes less shy when there is food involved. Raven is very uncomfortable with being picked up; she prefers that you interact with her on the floor. It make take some time to win her trust, but it will be worth it for this beautiful girl.

Nugget and Raven have been at the shelter a long time. Although they are adorable lops, they are bigger than most bunnies, which puts some people off. They can also be shy at times, which means they will need patience and effort to gain their trust. Come and visit Nugget and Raven- there are few bunnies more deserving of a forever home!

Bunnies of the Week- Lambchop & Hushpuppy!

Meet Lambchop and Hushpuppy– the bunnies of the week!

Lambchop & Hushpuppy- very much in love!

Lambchop & Hushpuppy- very much in love!

This bonded pair has been through a lot together. Lambchop and Hushpuppy came to the shelter in July of 2014. They were two of the rabbits rescued from terrible outdoor hutches, where they were being kept with many other rabbits.

The horrible conditions they were living in.

The horrible conditions they were living in.

All of the adult rabbits were covered in urine stains, so when Lambchop and Hushpuppy first came to the shelter, they were almost completely yellow.

One of the male rabbits right after he was rescued.

Due to the urine stains, much of their fur had to be trimmed. Lambchop was left with fluffy fur that looked like lamb’s wool, earning her the name Lambchop.

Since the male and female rabbits were being kept together in the hutches, the female rabbits were pregnant (and probably had been pregnant multiple times). We assumed Lambchop was pregnant until we took her to the vet, who discovered that she was carrying a dead baby (which had to be removed). After she recovered from her surgery and spay, and Hushpuppy recovered from his neuter, the two were reunited. They were so happy to be back together!

So in love.

Reunited.

Time heals all wounds, and Lambchop and Hushpuppy have made huge progress. They look like entirely new bunnies! Their fur is beautiful, snowy white again, and they have become much happier and more trusting of people.

Hushpuppy has grown into a friendly and outgoing bunny. He is a bit more energetic than Lambchop, and he loves to run around and explore. He would love a home that will give him plenty of exercise!

Hushpuppy is a handsome boy, and he knows it!

Lambchop is a sweet girl. She is very calm and enjoys head scratches and attention. She is more reserved than Hushpuppy, but she still loves to get out and stretch her legs.

Lambchop is much cuter in person.

Lambchop is even cuter in person.

Lambchop and Hushpuppy had a rough start, but since they were rescued their lives have improved dramatically. The last thing they need to complete their transformation is a loving forever home! Please consider making these wonderful bunnies a part of your family!

Bunny of the Week- Claudia!

Claudia is bunny of the week!

Claudia is ready to hit the slopes!

A skiboard is the perfect bunny-sized snowboard.

Claudia is about three years old and has been at the shelter for a year. She was surrendered by a family who was initially looking to adopt a bunny at the shelter (she belonged to a relative of theirs who did not want her anymore). Because of a bad reaction to anesthesia, Claudia cannot be spayed. Therefore, any male rabbit in a potential home must be neutered.

Ready to hit the slopes!

Claudia is ready to hit the slopes!

Claudia is a beautiful chocolate-brown bunny! She loves to get out of her crate and stretch her legs, but she is also very good at relaxing! She enjoys sunbathing and sitting in the meatloaf position (legs tucked in, head resting on her dewlap). Like a picky child, she refuses to eat any vegetables, but she still loves her pellets and hay. Miss Claudia is a sweet and friendly girl who has been at the shelter a long time. A new year brings a fresh start, and hopefully a forever home for Claudia!

Sweet girl Claudia!

“Will 2015 be the year I get a forever home?”
