Adoption Process

  1. Fill out an adoption application.
Please note: We will be suspending adoptions twice a year. Dates will be posted on our Adopt page. Applications can still be submitted during this time, but the adoption committee will review after the suspension period is over. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

    1. After submitting the application, it can take up to a week for the adoption committee to contact you as they only meet once a week.
    2. It can then take up to another week for you to be approved, as the adoption committee will meet again to discuss the applications after they have talked to you.
    3. If it has been a while since you have owned a rabbit or have never owned a rabbit and you live locally, we will ask you to come in and volunteer to learn about the care of a rabbit.
  2. Come to the shelter to meet the rabbits!
  3. Fall in love with a bunny (or two).
  4. Prepare your home for your new friend. (Note: If there are other buns in the home, they’ll need to be spayed or neutered before adopting your new bun!)
  5. Schedule a home visit.
  6. Pay adoption fee ($75 for a single rabbit, $120 for a bonded pair).
  7. Bring home your new bunny!

Our adoption process does take time because we want you to be fully prepared for your new family member, and we want the best forever homes for our rescue bunnies.

Rabbits & Children

Rabbits make great family pets but children must learn rabbits are fragile animals.  Families with young children are encouraged to bring the children to the shelter to learn rabbit behavior and safe rabbit handling prior to adopting.
