EARS (Erie Area Rabbit Society & Rescue) is Erie County’s only rabbit-exclusive shelter, and we’re entirely volunteer-run. We rely on your support to continue our mission: Educate, Adopt, Rescue, and Shelter. On Tuesday, August 12, every donation of $25 or more made through
ErieGives.org qualifies for bonus funds—so your generosity goes even further!
What Your Donation Can Do
Every dollar you give helps provide life-saving care to rabbits in need. Here’s how your gift directly helps:
- $25 – Provides medicine to a rabbit upon intake
- $60 – Helps cover the cost of a rabbit’s initial vet visit
- $135 – Feeds hay and pellets to the rabbits in our shelter for one week
- $160 – Helps spay or neuter a rabbit

Why It Matters
Rabbits are the third most surrendered pet in the U.S., yet most animal shelters aren’t equipped to meet their specific needs. That’s where EARS steps in.
Our Mission:
- Educate – We share knowledge about proper rabbit care through outreach at schools, colleges, and community events.
- Adopt – Our dedicated team finds loving indoor homes for the 73 rabbits currently in our care. Already this year, 24 rabbits have been adopted!
- Rescue – Since January, we’ve responded to over 50 surrender and rescue calls, bringing 13 new rabbits into our care.
- Shelter – We provide safe, clean housing, daily care, and critical veterinary treatment—including spay/neuter surgeries—until each rabbit finds their forever home.
We are 100% no-kill, and about 85% of our annual expenses go directly toward rabbit care—vet bills, food, hay, and shelter upkeep.
